| Businesses Near Schools |
The school board shall solicit additional help from zoning or building departments of the various municipalities and of the county in closely regulating or denying establishment of certain types of businesses near schools. Among the businesses referred to are:
Business establishments that might contribute to the delinquency of a minor. Such businesses would include those handling alcoholic beverages in any manner, the selling or display of obscene literature, and the condoning of any types of gambling.
Hazardous establishments such as filling stations' power substations, chemical warehouses, and construction dumps.
Utilities such as sewage disposal plants or other facilities that can be objectionable from the standpoint of noise or odor.
Business establishments that would cause public disturbances such as drive-in restaurants or so-called campus shops with inadequate floor and table space.
Mobile vendors who set up stations near schools.
Zoning and building departments shall be requested to notify the school board prior to the approval of any business near a school that might prove to be objectionable.
