Policy 2.161Expenditure of Proceeds from District-Level Fund-Raising

  1. At the district level, proceeds of auxiliary enterprises, undesignated gifts, and fundraisers sponsored by the school district may be disbursed for purposes deemed to be for the benefit of the district. Sources of "auxiliary enterprises funds" include profits from vending machines, supply stores, and other internal account funds not specifically designated for student or school-level purposes.

    1. Such expenditures of proceeds from district-level fund-raising shall be from the fund which generated the revenue.

    2. The purpose of the use of the funds will either directly benefit or be in the best interest of the school district, and a portion of such funds may be used for hospitality of business guests, promotion, and public relations, including provision of refreshments, related to but not limited to activities involving graduation, visiting committees, orientation and inservice seminars, recruitment and interviewing of prospective employees, official meetings and receptions, guest speakers, accreditation studies, and other developmental activities, awards, or occasions when persons are recognized for meritorious performance.

    3. The disbursement of such funds for hospitality of business guests shall not exceed fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for any fiscal year in which the prior year's unweighted districtwide full time equivalent ("FTE") was less than one hundred fifty thousand and one (150,001); and shall not exceed seventy five thousand ($75,000) for any fiscal year in which the prior year's FTE was one hundred fifty thousand one (150,001) or more.

    4. Standard accounting procedures shall be followed for such expenditures
