Procurement of Driver Education Vehicles
The District will obtain vehicles for the driver education program from automobile dealers in the most appropriate and inexpensive manner available. If administrative fee payments to dealers are required, they shall be based on a formula approved by the School Board.
The Superintendent will arrange for the procurement of driver education vehicles based upon requests from the principals of schools which offer driver education.
The board and each participating automobile dealer will execute a formal agreement regarding the general conditions of vehicle use and maintenance.
The Board will provide adequate insurance for the vehicle and will reimburse automobile dealers for appropriate maintenance and repairs.
Use of Driver Education Vehicles
The school principal is responsible for the proper use and care of driver education vehicles in accordance with specific guidelines provided by the Superintendent.
Instruction to students using the driver education vehicles must be provided by properly certified instructors.
Driver education vehicles must be committed only to driver education. The vehicles may not be used for other school activities or for personal purposes. Vehicles should be garaged in a safe location at the school or other appropriate location approved by the Superintendent.
Smoking or the consumption of food and/or drink is prohibited in driver education vehicles.
