|District Certification Requirements for JROTC Instructors|
The Superintendent is authorized to recommend for employment a commissioned or noncommissioned military officer as an instructor of junior reserve officer training corps (JROTC) and require the individual to obtain a career and technology certificate issued by the School District. In addition, the individual must: meet the following:
Is retired from active military duty, pursuant to chapter 102 of Title 10 U. S.C.
Satisfies criteria established by the appropriate military service for certification by the service as a junior reserve officer training instructor.
Has an exemplary military record.
Persons employed under this policy shall be accorded all benefits of certified instructional personnel, except as prohibited by Florida Laws, State Board of Education Administrative Rules, and Policies of the Board.
Persons employed under this policy shall be eligible for annual or professional service contract. Professional services contracts can only be awarded if the employee holds a professional certificate as prescribed by Section 1012.56, F. S., and rules of the State Board of Education.
If a JROTC instructor is assigned instructional duties other than junior reserve officer training corps, he shall hold the certificate required by law and comply with rules of the State Board of Education for the type of service rendered.
