| Length of School Administrative/Instructional Staff Contracts |
Purpose: To further implement subsection (3)(f) to Fla. Stat. § 1011.60(3)(f) by providing specific School Board approval through this Policy to allow principals, other school site administrators, and instructional staff to work more than 10 calendar months within the fiscal year.
Policy: Expenditures for principals, other school site administrators, and instructional staff will be in accordance with School Board approved job descriptions and salary schedules.
The contract period of 10 months means anyone employed up to a 206-duty day contract; that contracts exceeding 10 months may have duty pay periods of 216, 226, 12 months, or as otherwise approved by the Board as being more than 206-days. The instructional 196-duty day contract is considered a 10-month contract in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the School Board and the Palm Beach County Classroom Teachers Association.
The Board specifically approves that principals, other school site administrators, and instructional staff may serve more than 10 calendar months of service as authorized by each respective budgeted job assignment. Additionally, other employees may work a 10 calendar month or longer contract as outlined within their respective collective bargaining agreements.
Principals, site-based administrators and instructional staff who work beyond a 10 month calendar will be presented to the Board by motion for approval on a yearly basis.
