Policy 6.11Money Left in Schools After Hours

  1. Any employee who fails to turn in funds each day shall be held personally liable for any loss.

  2. The maximum sum of money permitted to be kept in school overnight shall not exceed $300, excluding the cafeteria change fund, and shall be properly secured therein.

  3. The school principal shall make provisions for funds collected during the late afternoon or evening activities so that these can be placed in a night depository. Sponsors of activities, or any individual, should not be expected to have to safeguard funds and shall place these funds in a night depository.

  4. When the collection of money occurs uniformly throughout the school year for evening programs and activities, the Superintendent is empowered to grant a waiver of the $300 limit. Waivers will be granted under the conditions and guidelines established by the Superintendent.

  5. Persons assigned the responsibility of depositing funds shall be reimbursed in accordance with the rate established for Board related travel in P-6.01(2)(d) - Authorized Travel Expense Reimbursement.
