Policy 6.28Comprehensive Liability Insurance for Summer Camps/Day Care

  1. District Summer Camps. -- Comprehensive general liability insurance for school-based district-run summer camps is required in an amount sufficient to protect the board as determined by the superintendent/designee after considering the nature of the camp and the exposure. Cost of the insurance shall be included in the summer camp budget, and may be passed to the participants.

  2. Other Summer Camps. -- Summer camps that are not run by the district but are using district facilities are required to carry comprehensive general liability insurance in an amount sufficient to protect itself and the board as determined by the superintendent/designee after considering the nature of the camp and the exposure. A certificate of insurance naming the district as an additional insured shall be furnished annually to the principal at the location where the camp is being held. Any premiums or cost of this insurance is the responsibility of the summer camp and may be passed on to the participants.

  3. Day Care Programs. -- This policy shall also apply to day care programs (excluding school age child care ("SACC"), migrant worker programs, and federally funded early intervention programs, such as head start) as determined by the superintendent/designee after considering the nature of the program and the exposure. Any premiums or costs of this insurance is the responsibility of the program and may be passed on to the participants.
